Strong Links With St. Cedwyn's Church
Our School Prayer
"This is our school
Let peace be here
Let love be here
Love of one another
Love of all good things
And love of God
Let us always remember
Many caring hearts make a school
Amen"
The Church and School work closely together
At Llangedwyn Church in Wales School, Religious Education is provided in accordance with the Powys Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. Collective worship is a central focus of our school day. Collective Worship takes place daily at 9.00am and the children are given the opportunity to listen, reflect and participate in religious stories, topics that relate to faith and ‘real life’ sing hymns, praise, celebrate achievement and say prayers. Reverend Vaughan Sweet, Dean Pam Powell and Darren Mayer (Impact Bus) visit the School regularly and contribute to worship.
It is our aim to help children in their social, spiritual and moral development to enrich their own lives and in turn the ethos of our school. We will encourage children to understand how and why people worship and endeavour to increase the awareness of our children of other religions and cultures, whilst maintaining the strong Christian ethos of the school.
The children visit the local church and take part in a variety of services and activities linked to Christianity with the school.
Parents have the right to withdraw their children from the RE lessons on grounds of conscience or belief and this can be arranged through the Headteacher.
" The school’s strong Christian ethos where core Christian values permeate all aspects of school life."
